PEACE II Programme

The PEACE Programme was established in 1995 to promote cross-border peace and reconciliation and is targeted at the Border Counties and Northern Ireland. A second programme was established to run from 2000-2004 with a Structural Funds budget of 500 million. The Programme was subsequently extended until 2006 with an extra 144 million of Structural Funds support.

The Programme comprises five Sub-Programmes (Priorities), each of which contains a number of distinct Measures. The ESF provides funding in support of seven Measures across three of the Sub-Programmes.

The full text of the Programme is available here on the NDP website.

The overall objective of the Programme is to provide a strategic framework to support cross-border co-operation strategies and projects for a variety of sectors and organisations. PEACE II is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body - http://www.seupb.org, which was established under the Good Friday Agreement.
